How our school commodity program works for you.

We can process your diverted commodity pounds into various combinations of products offered in our program, which uses USDA commodity A-534 ‘Bulk Turkey.’ Here’s how it works:

• Your commodity pounds are banked in a ratio of 56% dark to 44% white meat.
• A minimum of 27% of your dark meat pounds need to be purchased from thigh meat products..
• Our customizable commodity worksheets help you fit your menu needs into this formula.
• Direct diversion only, no backhauls.
• After you use up all your commodities, you simply switch from a commodity to a commercial purchase, using the same product and codes.
• With Jennie-O Turkey Store Commodity Processing Program, you have two value pass thru options to choose from.
• Fee for service direct
• Commodity distribution net off invoice

USDA Compliance Sales Verification

In order for the manufacture to ensure that you are receiving the correct discount for your commodity-based products, you must verify the contracted discount as stated by the manufacturer. K12foodservice.com has an online verification tool, which allows you to send notification directly to the manufacturer if there are any problems with your accounts. Verification reminders are sent out monthly via email to help you stay on top of your commodity accounts.
